Good for a Girl is a groundbreaking piece of theatre celebrating and exposing the real-life experiences of women in football. Written by Becky Deeks and directed by Lucy Wild, this dynamic, comedic and hard-hitting production reveals the resilience of female footballers and the inequalities women still face in society today.
CASTING CALL
Queensgate are a fictional team playing three divisions below the Women’s Super League in England. Queensgate are a non-professional club who train Tuesday and Thursday evenings and play matches on Sunday. They are currently top of their league and for the first time ever have reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, having progressed through qualifying rounds. The story focuses on a core group of players who are part of a larger squad coached by thirty-six year old Mark Wheeler.

Casting Breakdown:
We are seeking 5 female identifying performers to play 5 members of women’s football team, Queensgate FC. All of the cast must be comfortable with ensemble movement and working physically. We’re looking for members of a company to form a team - hands on and willing to support the smooth get in and get out of the production’s tour to studio theatres alongside stage management.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR JOB OPPORTUNITY
Good for a Girl is undertaking a rehearsal process and small-scale tour. Writer Becky Deeks and Director Lucy Wild are committed to providing opportunities for emerging directors to develop their craft, skills and practice whilst also expanding their understanding of theatre production processes.
We are looking for a Midlands-based Assistant Director to be part of the rehearsal process for Good for a Girl at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. We are particularly interested in someone who has a movement/physical background and is interested in developing this within their practice.
